Our Team

The ForNextCobot project team consists of young robotics students from the School of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade (ETF) and the Mihajlo Pupin Institute (IMP). Marija Radmilović Ph.D. and Đorđe Urukalo Ph.D. are research associates of the Mihajlo Pupin Institute who obtained their doctorate degrees while conducting their research in the Laboratories for Robotics in Nantes, i.e. Versailles, in France in the field of Humanoid Robotics. Branko Lukić and Nikola Knežević are doctoral students at the School of Electrical Engineering who manage a new generation of robotic actuators and collaborative robots, while Milica Janković is an Associate Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Head of the Laboratory for Biomedical Instrumentation and Technology (BMIT). Maja Trumic is a doctoral student and a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, who will help the team in the field of Estimating the Mechanical Impedance of Robots in accordance with the activities of her doctoral dissertation at the School of Electrical Engineering. Kosta Jovanovic Ph.D., ForNextCobot Project Manager, is an Assistant Professor (britanski – senior lecturer) at the School of Electrical Engineering and Head of the Robotics Laboratory, which in the last 3 years was involved in the implementation of 4 European projects from the programme Horizon 2020 (2 projects of Innovation Actions and 2 from the Cascade Financing Innovation scheme).

The significance of this ForNextCobot project is twofold. Firstly, the project represents the grouping and improvement of the scientific base by merging the potential of the School of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade (ETF) with the Mihajlo Pupin Institute (IMP) as one of the leading institutions in the field of Robotics at the University of Belgrade in the up-and-coming field of collaboration between humans and robots, and derived from the knowledge base in robotics, automation, biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, etc. In addition, the project represents the revival of the so-called Belgrade School of Robotics, an informal group formed around an academician Miomir Vukobratović and prof. Rajko Tomović in 1960s and 1970s, which continues to exist and carries on with its rich tradition through the work of an academic Dejan Popović and prof. Veljko Potkonjak.

By uniting young researchers from the School of Electrical Engineering and the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, who have acquired professional specializations abroad and whose results have already gained them international recognition in the field of Robotics, through this project, and colleagues from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering through other joint scientific activities, it is considered that the University of Belgrade will still be one of the landmarks on the European robotics map.
